I am thrilled to now be offering walk and talk therapy for all clients interested in doing therapy a little bit differently.
What is walk and talk therapy?
Walk and talk therapy allows you to get outside of the therapy office and enjoy the many benefits of being outside while participating in talk therapy.
Our sessions will begin with meeting at my office in Courtenay and follow an easy, stroller friendly, trail along the water. We will conclude the sessions back at office.

What are the benefits of Walk and Talk therapy?
There are so many benefits of taking therapy outside!
Getting outside has been shown to:
Reduce irritability
Lower blood pressure and stress hormones
Reduce feelings of isolation
Reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression
Restore capacity for attention and concentration
Increase feelings of calm
Increase dopamine production and endorphin levels
Build strength and resilience
May reduce mortality
Plus, Walk and Talk Therapy provides an alternative route to therapy for those who aren't comfortable in a traditional therapy setting, have a little one who is happy in the stroller while they attend therapy, or want to get outside and move their body while connecting with a therapist.
Does Walk and Talk Therapy work for everyone?
While Walk and Talk Therapy is a great option for many, there are times when it may not be a good fit:
Mobility restrictions which limited your ability to walk for a period of time.
Sessions focusing on deep trauma processing are generally better done in the safety of the office.
If you don't feel comfortable with the possibility of being spotted with your therapist out in the community for confidentiality reasons.
For these reasons, new clients must first complete an initial session in office prior to their first Walk and Talk session.
Existing clients wanting to try Walk and Talk can speak directly to me to decide if it's a good fit.
